The court of cassation decided today to retainthe case to 28th of November in order to articulate the verdict against the murder of two policemenKashif Ahmed Mandhour and Mohammed Farouq Abdul-Samad, from the Ministry of Interior personnel in which it sentenced the execution of the two defendantsand life imprisonment for the remaining five. Where the Cassation Court has issued itsverdict on the prosecution of AliAbdullah Hassan Al Sankis, Abdul-Aziz Abdul Ridha Ibrahim Hussain, andsentenced Ali Isa Abdulla Kadhim Ali with life imprisonment, while the court modifiedthe sentence of each of Qassim Hassan Mattar Ahmad, Saeed Abdul-Jalil Saeed fromdeath penalty to life imprisonment, and confiscation ofthe vehicle used to commit the crime. After issuance of the previousverdicts the Military Prosecutor declared that under the royal decree no. (48) Forthe year 2011, the death penalties are considered a stab by the force of lawbefore the Cassation Court under the text of the articles (41, 40) from thecassation court law no. (9) for the year of 1989. On August 18 a Law Decree No.(28) was issued for the year 2011 on issues concerning cases during thenational safety state, which provided in Article three: \"The publicprosecutor and defendants to impugn all verdicts issued by the National SafetyAppeal Court, in compliance with the provision before the court, and the doorshall be open as from the date of that law\"
