Emirati singer Ahmed Bukhatir has chanted spiritually uplifting lyrics for the holy month of Ramadan. It is also the first time for him to perform a song in duet, with sand-drawing artist Shaimaa Al Mughairi, the Omani star of 'Arabs Got Talent' TV show.
"I wanted to give a 'wake-up message' in a way I haven't done in all my 19 clips that I have been chanting since 1999," the Emirati singer cum businessman exclusively told Khaleej Times. "I hope the chant will help people to be compassionate, tolerant, kind, and closer to Almighty Allah as Ramadan is the perfect time.
"Al Mughairi, having dazzled the audience with her fantastic sand drawings, is an added value to my clip, and will not only make my message more touchy but also people will be more responsive."
In his album, themed 'Al-Raheel' or 'Departure', Bukhatir, also known as Abu Abdullah, underlined that life is a long journey with a little intake. "We are only here to cross a bridge, as no one will ever stay for long."
He expressed his wonder about people turning away from the eternal life in the Hereafter and over consuming their mortal desires. "Why do we persist in living a life when only an ignorant will be deceived by it?"
Advising, he said that the holy month of Ramadan is a priceless opportunity to get ready for that must-come moment. "We should be ready for that, because we have arrived in this life, crying as a baby; don't you want to leave happy?"
People forget that they will die and stand before judgment, he said. "That day they will realise what they have done. God had counted it but we disregarded it."
"I call upon God pleading privately and overtly, as hope depends on Him my creator in this world and Hereafter," he chanted. "Clean my heart from the love of this world, and keep it always alive with your remembrance."
The 4.30 minute song, video-recorded in the UAE, was written by Hisham Zarzor, composed and sung by Bukhatir. "My last clip, 'Fathfar' or 'Better go for pious woman', was watched over by 1.7 million people in 1.5 months."
Bukhatir, who has chanted three clips this year is expecting to do more. "I am geared up to compose and chant two or three more clips this year."
