The Dubai Police have marked World Anti-Drugs Day 2017 by organising an exhibition under the slogan "Be with your children, be well". Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief for criminal investigation affairs and Major-General Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, assistant commander-in-chief of ports affairs, jointly inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of a number of officials.
Several government agencies that deal with drug awareness participated in the activities held at the Dubai Festival City under the supervision of the general department of anti-narcotics.
Iman Hassan, head of activities, spoke about the effectiveness of arts in spreading awareness ideas among students and parents. "Drawings can explain issues that help in educating families about the negative impact of drugs and the importance of staying away from bad friends. Precautionary measures are also vital to protect students from the consequences of falling into the clutches of drugs," she said.
Maj Gen Al Mansouri praised the participanting authorities for their active role and support. He said that such initiatives will help establish a culture of awareness among all members of the society. Maj Gen Thani honoured the sponsors who played prominent roles in the awareness campaigns of the Dubai Police. He stressed that the World Anti-Drugs Day is one of the events where all officials concerned unite and work together against one common enemy - the drug dealers. He urged families to activate community partnerships and stand together with the security officials to face the challenges in drug-related issues.
