Independent Election Commission (IEC) President Khaled Kalaldeh said Saturday that ballot papers are ready for the municipal and governorate council elections due to be held in mid-August.
He told heads and members of committees working in the field in the Kingdom’s constituencies and IEC board members that the electoral committees had received the ballot and vote-counting guide, which was prepared by the commission.
It said the committees had also a CD which contains visual examples of each constituency, the atlas with electoral maps, the laws and regulations concerning the electoral process, the final voter lists and the ballot and vote-counting guide.
During the meeting, part of preparations for the August 15 polls, Kalaldeh commended the efforts of the committees’ workers in the field and its efforts to make the polls a success.
The IEC chief also said some local councils had an equal number of candidates to the allocated seats, which means they win by acclamation, and will be declared winners when the final results are announced, according to the law.
