Manama - Emirates Voice

Egyptian Ambassador to Bahrain, Suha Ibrahim Mohammed Rifaat, has asserted that humanitarian and voluntary work is a deep-rooted and continuous approach in the Kingdom of Bahrain, whether at the official or social levels, highlighting Bahrain’s constant keenness on honouring and encouraging whoever seeks to provide assistance to humanity, regardless of their identity or belonging.
She cited the efforts of the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) to provide support to a great number of people in many regions all over the world, even in remote areas, and keenness on building a better future for the coming generations through its development projects in many countries, including Egypt.

She said that Egypt is among the countries that have benefited the most from RCO’s projects, such as schools and hospitals in various regions, noting that RCO’s officials visits those regions to identify the needs of children and needy people there.

The ambassador affirmed that the HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Voluntary Work Award not only given cash prizes, but also encourages the winners and volunteers to carry on the giving process, noting that the award adds to Bahrain’s long history of volunteers and initiatives to honour them.

She added that the award-distribution ceremony is a regional event to urge youth to serve humanity.

The envoy pointed out that holding the award-distribution ceremony at the Arab League’s headquarters in Cairo is a token of appreciation and respect to Bahrain for its rich history of volunteerism and humanitarian work.

It is also an opportunity to shed light on Bahrain’s leading status in the field of voluntary and humanitarian work, as well as to encourage Arab individuals to engage in voluntary work and serve humanity, she said.

Highlighting Egypt’s rich voluntary and humanitarian work experience, the ambassador cited Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt (CCHE 57357), being an exemplary initiative from which many Egyptians and foreigners have benefited, among other similar voluntary and humanitarian institutions and initiatives.

She pointed out that many Egyptian voluntary work organisations and humanitarian work icons have been honoured by Bahrain, citing the 57357 hospital, the winners of the third edition of the Isa Award for Service to Humanity, as well as former Prime Minister, Essam Sharaf, former Arab League Secretary-General, Amr Moussa, and MP Rania Alwani, the laureates of the HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Voluntary Work Award for 2014, 2015 and 2016, respectively.

It is to noted that the award-distribution ceremony of this year’s edition of the HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa’s Award for Voluntary Work, organised by the Good Word Society in cooperation with the Arab Federation for Voluntary Work and the Arab League’s NGOs’ Department, will be held at the Arab League’s premises in Cairo on September 13-15.
