Bahrain has today attended a dialogue session on combating corruption on the sidelines of the 22nd session of the UN Human Rights council (UNHRC), being held in Geneva, Switzerland, from February 25 to March22. Bahrain Permanent Representative to Geneva-based UN Office and International Organisations Dr. Yusuf Abdulkarim Bucheeri addressed the session – on behalf of the Arab Group – stressing the importance of discussing the issue of corruption, seeing its negative impact on human rights. “Corruption is a major challenges to efforts seeking to protect human rights”, he said, warning against the detrimental impact of this scourge in weakening national institutions and undermining efforts to improve citizens’ standard of living.
