Bahrain has been elected a Member of the Executive Board of the UN-affiliated International Tourism Organisation (ITO) for 2018-2021 term.
Bahrain’s election emanates from the Member States’ belief in the kingdom’s capability to represent the Mideast region as well as develop the tourism industry in the region’s countries.
Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed R. Alzayani the Chairman of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA)’s board of directors congratulated the wise leadership on the Kingdom of Bahrain’s winning the ITO’s executive board seat that boosts the kingdom’s leading role in the management of the tourism dossier at the international level. The election took place during the ITO’s 43rd General Assembly Meeting in the Chinese capital Beijing.
Egypt won nine votes, Bahrain won six votes meanwhile Yemen won one vote and Lebanon four votes.
The International Tourism Organisation ITO) is a association of experts which provide advice in the fields of tourism strategy and master planning, development and investment strategy, marketing programmes for the tourism and leisure industries worldwide and consultation on the latest technologies supporting distribution.
