A delegation from the Kingdom of Bahrain, headed by the Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa, took part in the 22nd World Tourism Organization General Assembly held in China from the 11th to the 16th of September 2017.
During the Assembly, a variety of topics were discussed within the agenda of the 22nd session of the UNWTO General Assembly. Topics discussed included the objectives of sustainable development, a dedicated session on smart tourism, as well as the commemoration of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development 2017, the prospects of turning the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics into an international convention, as well as current trends in the sector.
“We are pleased to participate in the 22nd World Tourism Organization General Assembly, which aims to achieve the long term vision of the Kingdom’s tourism sector under the guidance of the wise leadership. We also look forward to participating in the next UNWTO General Assembly,” said the CEO of BTEA, H.E. Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa. The World Tourism Organization, in its 22nd General Assembly, continues to monitor the initiatives and operations undertaken by the organization in collaboration with its partners worldwide in order to work towards achieving sSustainable dDevelopment, promoting sustainable tourism, as well as identifying actions of the organization for the period 2018-2019. This participation comes in line with BTEA’s strategy that focuses on developing the industry, as well as stimulating the tourism sector in the Kingdom.
