The Arab League will hold an extra-ordinary meeting at the level of delegates on Thursday to discuss the dangerous conditions suffered by the Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
Jamal Al-Shobaki, the State of Palestine Ambassador to Egypt and the delegate to the league, said in a statement that the meeting, to be held in response to a request by Palestine, would discuss the dangerous conditions in the Israeli prisons, in shadow of an open ended hunger strike observed by the Palestinian prisoners.
A rapid action at the Arab level is needed to relieve more than 1,600 Palestinian prisoners, he added.Following the meeting, the Arab League Secretary- General is scheduled to demonstrate solidarity with the striking prisoners and urge the world to intervene and stop their plight.
