The Arab League decided to host an emergency meeting on Thursday to discuss the resumption of the membership of Libya represented by the Transitional National Council (TNC), Oman's Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al-Harthi announced. Al-Harthi said in a press statement, that the meeting will be headed by Oman, the current rotating president of the current session of the League. The statment followed reports about almost full control by anti-Gaddafi fighters over the main cities in Libya, including the Libyan capital city of Tripoli. Al-Harthi added that the League's was discussing the return of Libya to the League, particularly after the recent developments in Tripoli and the recognition of many Arab countries to TNC, as the sole and legitimate representative of the country.
