The Arab anti-terrorism forum kicked off on Thursday in the Sudanese Capital Khartoum under the rubric of Arab media’s role in combating terrorism.
The opening session of the two-day forum, organized by Sudanese Information Ministry and the Arab League (AL), was attended by Sudanese First Vice President Bakri Hassan Saleh, AL Assistant Secretary-General Ahmed bin Helli and a number of Arab information ministers, in addition to a group of experts and those concerned with terrorism issues in the Arab world.
The forum comes as response to the decision taken by the Arab information ministers’ council during its a meeting held recently in Cairo, Spokesman for Sudanese Government and Information Minister Ahmed Bilal Othman said.
The spokesman added the forum is expected to discuss the role of religious discourse in combating terrorism, national efforts to face terrorism and the inter-Arab media strategy to eliminate the phenomenon of extremism and terrorism.
