Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Essam Fayed asserted that the government was deeply interested in working to face impact of world climate change to avoid its negative impact on development plans in view of increase of number of refugees as well as lack of food security.
Addressing the final session of a ceremony held by the Agriculture Ministry to mark the World Food Day, the minister said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has floated two initiatives during his participation in Paris Climate Summit to asset Egypt's contribution to limiting the impact of gaseous emissions. He made it clear that such initiatives should be supported by necessary funding.
The minister explained that agriculture sector was in dire need of conducting new searches to follow up any climate changes that would harm agricultural produce.
He also highlighted global warming as a threat to the agricultural sector as well as a source of other environmental problems such as the sea level rise that could endanger the coastal communities in several world countries.
