Sharjah Economic Development Department, SEDD, branches in the Eastern Region of Kalba, Khor Fakkan, and Dibba Al Hisn in Sharjah City, achieved a continuous growth rate in the number of issued and renewed licenses that have been completed up to November, 2016.
The number of licenses reached 5,526 in comparison with 5402 licenses issued in the same period last year.
In the context of the geographical distribution and development of horizontal economic activities, Dibba Al Hisn Branch attained the highest growth rate of 9 percent, followed by Khor Fakkan, then Kalba.
Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD Chairman, said that the report reflects the size of the continuous development in vital sectors as well as the confidence of investors and businessmen in Sharjah’s competitive ability at various levels. He also added that this is considered remarkable evidence of the emirate’s status as a platform for business movement and that it occupies a strategic position on the local and regional economic map.
He praised the efforts made by SEDD in applying the policies and procedures related to improving the business environment and attracting investors. In addition, he emphasised that the economy in Sharjah works alongside the wise directives of the leadership that calls to activate the highest service standards offered to customers at all regional and global levels.
Al Suwaidi also said that the department works on easing procedures in order to make all services, such as registering business and issuing licenses, easier on customers as well as providing more flexibility for investors and dealers in a way that enables them to run their business in a short period of time. In addition, the department works on helping investors by coordinating with various government and federal entities.
