A five-vehicle collision on Taweelah Bridge towards Abu Dhabi on Tuesday resulted in the death of two people and left nine others injured, according to a statement sent by the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate. All of the victims of the collision, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon on the outskirts of the capital, were Indian. “The collision occurred because the motorists were speeding, and there was not sufficient distance between the vehicles,” said Mohsin Al Menhali, head of external roads section at the directorate. The victims who sustained moderate to light injuries were rushed to the nearby Al Rahba Hospital after the accident, while the two bodies were transported to the appropriate departments. Al Menhali called upon all motorists to abide by traffic regulations for their own safety and those of other road users, particularly because of the greater volume of vehicles on the roads during Eid.
