Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development (MICAD) and Head of the UAE Committee for Coordination of Foreign Humanitarian Aid, has said the UAE's humanitarian efforts send a message of peace and fraternity to the world, thanks to the wise vision of the leadership.
She added that President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, back the pillars of the global stability and peace among different nationalities and religions.
Observing the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which falls on Saturday, Sheikha Lubna said that the UAE's foreign humanitarian aid would contribute towards development and curbing all forms of segregation, noting that those noble values had been instilled by the founder of the UAE, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
She further said that as the world marks this occasion, the UAE foreign aid would boost development in developing countries and poor communities through financing the education and health programme as well as creating more job opportunities to bridge social class and gender gaps.
Sheikha Fatima noted that the UAE had spent Dh200 million in 2013 to empower women in the conflict zones in line with its efforts to achieve the millennium goals for 2015.
She underlined that the UAE record in providing relief aid to refugees and displaced people highlights the country's prestigious status to alleviate the suffering of persecuted people irrespective of their categories, areas and regions.
