Paris - Arabstoday

Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti hailed his side's togetherness as they got their Ligue 1 title challenge back on track by defeating arch-rivals Marseille. PSG's expensively-assembled squad have struggled in recent weeks and the 2-1 win at the Parc des Princes last night was their first in four league outings. Jeremy Menez put them in front in the sixth minute and Alex grabbed the winner just after the hour mark, only two minutes after Andre Ayew had equalised. The result moved PSG level on points with Montpellier at the summit although they have played a game more. "The game was balanced," said Ancelotti. "There was a lot of commitment, but what was positive was that we played as a team for the full 90 minutes." The Italian reserved special praise for Menez, who, in the absence of a recognised striker in the starting XI, orchestrated PSG's best attacking moments. "When there is no centre-forward the movement of the three attacking midfielders is important," he added. "I asked Menez and Nene to play a bit higher than [Javier] Pastore. They did a good job and Menez in particular had a fantastic game." Disappointment for Deschamps It was another sobering night for Marseille, though. Didier Deschamps' side have now gone 11 games without a win, losing ten of them. The former France captain felt his players deserved better. "Paris scored two goals on two shots," he said. "Apart from that [goalkeeper Steve] Mandanda had nothing to do. A draw would not have been undeserved given our performance." Ninth-placed Marseille return to action on Wednesday against Montpellier before Saturday's Coupe de la Ligue final against Lyon. And Deschamps is adamant there is still plenty to play for in what has been a season of underachievement. "We have to finish in the best position possible," he said, "due to economic necessity. The players are professionals. In a complicated game against PSG they showed that. Nobody wants to finish the season coasting."
