Javier Zanetti believes Roberto Mancini is starting to make his mark at Inter Milan after watching the underachieving club return to the top half of the Italian Serie A table.
I Nerazzurri have spent most of the current campaign struggling in mid-table and, having disposed with Walter Mazzarri in November, they restored Mancini to the job he held between 2004 and 2008. Results were slow to improve but Sunday's convincing 4-1 win over Atalanta followed victory over Palermo and boosted Inter into tenth place, from where the last European berth is now five points away.
Vice-president Zanetti, who played for Inter for nine years, told Sky Sport Italia: "We're starting to see Mancini's footprint again, thanks to the work that he demands from his players. He's an experienced coach and he knows his way around the place really well. I hope we can still achieve the objectives we had targeted at the start of the season."
Mancini guided Inter to three league titles and two Coppa Italia trophies before tasting overseas success with Manchester City, with whom he won the English Premier League in 2012. A subsequent stint with Galatasaray was not so fruitful and he lasted only nine months in Istanbul.
