The Yemeni army and resistance forces in Taiz launched Saturday at dawn an offensive against Houthi militants and militias loyal to former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh in eastern front of Taiz.
The onslaught came few hours after ending the siege in Taiz after three-day fierce military clashes in the city, and controlling the road linking between Taiz and Aden.
The clashes moved to the eastern front of the city, the Yemeni military information center said, adding that the army and the resistance forces started their operations against the militias to end the blockade in the eastern front to liberate the whole governorate after recapturing the western and southern ones.
The military operation is supported by the Arab-led coalition, the center added.
