UN Security Council affirmed that the Gulf initiative, its executive mechanisms, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue conference and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions provide the basis for comprehensive consultations to reach a political settlement of the crisis in Yemen.
In a statement issued on Yemen, the council expressed its concern over the continued lack of implementation of these resolutions, stressing its strong commitment to Yemen's unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
The Security Council called on the Huthi militias and the coupists to stop attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The council stressed the need for continued exercise of navigation rights and freedoms in and around Bab al-Mandab Strait in accordance with relevant international law.
The council called on all parties in Yemen to engage constructively with the new proposals presented by UN Special Envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh to increase commercial and humanitarian shipments through Red Sea ports.
The council expressed its continued support for the tireless efforts of the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen and strongly condemned the attack on the convoy of the Envoy during his recent visit to Sana'a. The council called on the Huthis and Saleh to conduct a full investigation to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
