As many as 20 people were killed and injured, most of them civilians, when a booby-trapped car struck the residential building of the security chief of Yemen's southern port city of Aden on Sunday, a Yemeni security source said.
Aden's security chief, Brigadier Shalal Ali Shayea was not hurt, but casualties were reported among his personal bodyguards, the source added.
Earlier in the day, Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi held an extraordinary meeting with local and security officials in Yemen to discuss security developments in the province.
He ordered officials to secure victories achieved in the province by dealing firmly with subversive cells there.
