Security forces initiated a cleanup operations in Chaparhar District of Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar Province and have arrested 30 suspected militants, a statement of the country's Interior Ministry released here on Monday said. "Afghan National Security Forces launched a clearance operation in the Chaparhar District of eastern Nangarhar province yesterday to clean some of the areas from terrorists and enemies of peace and stability. The operation began on Sunday and so far 30 Taliban militants have been arrested," the statement added. The operations would last for 10 days to ensure security for the coming elections slated for April 5 this year, the statement added. Taliban militants fighting the government have vowed to disrupt the election process.
