At least 20 insurgents killed and five detained in various parts of Afghanistan during the past 24 hours, Afghan Interior Ministry announced. In a statement issued Thursday, the ministry said that during the past 24 hours, the national police, army and coalition forces launched 13 joined operations in the provinces of Kabul, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kandahar, Helmand, Zabul, Uruzgan, Logar, Paktia and Farah. As a result of the operations, 20 people were dead, one wounded and five others were arrested by the police, the ministry added. Large quantities of arms, ammunition, opium and explosive materials were also seized, according to the ministry.
