Unknown fighter jets have bombed Al Shabaab militants’ checkpoints in the town of Jilib, about 300km south of Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, Shabelle Media Network quoted a witness as saying on Wednesday.
The airstrikes which targeted militants from the Somali armed group took place last night in Hargeisa, according to the witness.
Several deaths and injuries were reported but it could not be independently verified how many were killed and wounded in the attack.
Last month, several Kenyan defense forces backed by foreign forces launched attacks on Al Shabaab bases in the town.
