Bo Schack, Director of UNRWA Operations in Gaza, has said the current situation in the occupied territory has reached 'tragic levels' as a result of successive crises affecting the Strip.
In a press conference held today, Mr. Schack said that UNRWA continues to provide humanitarian services according to its capacity. He noted that the deteriorating situation in Gaza and the rising levels of unemployment emphasise the need to find durable solutions.
Schack said that some 2,000 houses have been rebuilt or are to be completed shortly, adding that is considered as a positive development compared to previous years, where entry of cement supplies into the Gaza Strip was denied.
