Ezz-Eddin Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas Movement, said Sunday that its fighters have killed and injured 14 Israeli soldiers in an ambush to invading Israeli troops northeastern the city of Gaza.
In a press statement, the Brigades said that the Israeli troops were dragged to a well-prepared ambush in an area full of huge roadside bombs in east of Al-Tofah neighborhood in Gaza early Sunday.
Following the explosion of the bombs in the advancing Israeli troops and vehicles, Al-Qassam fighters opened heavy fire on the Israeli soldiers, it added.
The statement also stated that at least 14 Israeli soldiers were either killed or injured in the successful attack.
"This operation sends a warning message to the enemy that our fighters are eager for an Israeli incursion into Gaza to eliminate Israel's machine of war and dismember its soldiers," the statement reads.
As the war on Gaza entered its 13th day, at least 20 people were killed in a big Israeli offensive in east of Gaza City on Sunday taking the overall Palestinian death toll to at least 370, including at least 78 children and scores of women and elderly people.
Israel confirmed another two soldiers had been killed on Saturday night, raising the Israeli toll to seven dead, five of them soldiers killed since the ground operation began late on Thursday.
