Israeli war jets carried out on Saturday afternoon three airstrikes on southern Gaza Strip militants' targets in response to earlier rockets' firing into its territories with no injuries reported so far, witness and paramedics said.
According to the witnesses, Israeli war jets hovered over southern Gaza Strip, and carried out three successive airstrikes on targets in southern town of Rafah and the village of al-Garara.
Paramedics said that following the explosions in southern Gaza Strip, ambulances and rescue teams rushed to the bombed area, but no injuries reported.
Security officials in Gaza said the Israeli air-to-ground missiles targeted areas that militants are using for launching rockets into Israel.
The airstrikes were carried out shortly after militants in the Gaza Strip fired on Saturday afternoon several rockets and projectiles into southern Israeli towns and communities.
The Israeli media reported that at least one Israeli was moderately injured by the shrapnel of a rocket.
The growing tension between Israel and Gaza militants continue to grow on Saturday amid conflicting reports on an Egyptian attempt to mediate calm between the two sides.
Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas spokesman in Gaza, denied in an emailed press statement that there are talks or contacts on reaching a truce with Israel, adding "these reports are untrue."
Abu Zuhri said that the continuation of the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip "would certainly lead to a blow-up in the situation," adding "Gaza militants are ready for any upcoming confrontation with the occupation (Israel)."
However, he said that there are contacts that Hamas is in touch with several parties and not "one party," referring to Egypt, "to avoid a large-scale Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people."
