The so called “Judean Hills Development Corporation” (south of the West Bank) in cooperation with the regional council of Gush Etzion settlement announced that it is working on establishing three new settlements in the Gush Etzion settlement outpost.
Israeli Newspaper “ Maariv” reported that the director of the Judean Hills cooperation Moshe Moskowitz who has previously initiated the work on Efrat and Alon Shuvat settlement outposts said that the new settlement which will be established in cooperation with relevant ministries “to solve the problem of housing Jerusalem.” The three new settlements will be Alon Shvut and Gva’ot settlement outposts in Jerusalem.
Reportedly, the lands on which the settlements that will be built have different classifications by the Israeli occupation authority. Some of them are under the control of the Israeli Military. Arrangements have been made with the former Israeli minister of army, Moshe Yaalon, who agreed to help in evacuating the lands in order to start the construction.
It is expected that the area will be enough to build about 500 to 1,000 settlement units. In their report, Maariv newspaper claimed that the old location of Mesut Yitshak settlement outpost has been a Jewish property even before the establishment of the state of Israel, through the so-called Jewish National Fund.
