To the courtyard of Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third holiest shrine, to enjoy a group charity iftar meals served by the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) as part of its Ramadan initiatives. Organisers said more than 14,000 hot meals were given to fasters during the first third of the holy month. Hamza Qaisi, representative of Jerusalem Zakat Committee, which oversees the RCA’s fast-breaking programme, said some 3,000 food packages were distributed to fasters on Friday which saw a huge turnout of Muslim worshippers who attended Friday sermon and stayed until sunset to break their fast at the holy shrine.
