The United Nations Security Council will vote on a draft resolution, submitted by Egypt, that demand Israel "immediately and completely cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem".
Egypt circulated the draft on Wednesday evening and the 15-member council is due to vote on it today, diplomats said.
In a post on Twitter, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the United States should veto anti-Israel resolutions at the UN Security Council.
