Eight people, including two soldiers were injured in a car bomb explosion which targeted an Iraqi army checkpoint at Al-Faisaliya area in eastern Mosul which is located to the north of Baghdad. Police forces arrested seven wanted men and defused an explosive device in raids and inspection operations carried out in different areas in Diyala province, northeast of Baghdad. Meanwhile an explosives expert from Diyala police defused an explosive device planted on the side of the main road leading to Al-Sada area, north of Baquba area in which a civilian was killed and two others wounded in an armed attack that occurred in northeastern part of the city. In another development police said unidentified gunmen attacked with automatic weapons three persons on an agricultural area east of Muqdadiya, killing one of them and wounding the two others. Police also said that a joint Iraqi-US security force raided a village south of Kirkuk, and arrested a leader belongs to Ansar Al-Sunna group (Followers of the Sunna Group).
