Think the five or six-day work week in the majority of countries (UAE included) is too much? Well, there's apparently a country that is about to shift to a four-day work week.
According to CNN Philippines, The House of Representatives has approved the final reading of a bill that will allow employees to have a four-day work week. According to a press statement, the new working week for employees in the Philippines is "to promote business competitiveness, work efficiency and labour productivity".
In addition, the report also says that employees are entitled to THREE DAY OFF. You read that right. So, it will always be a long weekend in the Philippines, thanks to this bill. Once the bill becomes law, the secretary of labour and employment will issue the rules surrounding the new work week within 90 days.
However, there's a catch.
While the thought of a four-day work week may sound promising, the report does say that it will be an option aside from the current five or six-day working week. On top of that, employers who opt for the four-day work week must require employees to work for 12 hours.
What about you? Would you want to work for 12 hours but get three days off?
