Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stressed today that he is going to the United Nations to attend its 23rd meeting later this month to gain full membership of Palestine in the world body. After attending the meeting, President Abbas said he will turn back to (Mideast Peace) negotiations on the basis of clear and specific orientations in the light of the results of the (23rd) meeting. He made these remarks at a Consultative meeting of Fatah\'s Revolutionary Council held here this morning. \"This decision has been taken following (Mideast Peace) negotiations reaching a point of a standstill in view of rejection of all signed agreements by Israel and its insistence on not stopping the settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories and abrogating all international legitimacy resolutions. \"Moreover, the Palestinian decision is not aimed at isolating Israel or de-legitimizing the Israelis, but the target is to de-legitimize the occupation and highlight the necessity to bring about an end to it because the Palestinians are the only people in the world who still remain under (illegal) occupation,\" President Abbas noted.
