The Palestinian Popular Resistance Committees' military wing has declared a temporary ceasefire after a four-day exchange of fire with Israel, Palestinian news agency Maan said on Monday. The militant movement claimed responsibility for Saturday night Grad rocket attacks on the Israeli city of Beersheba that killed two Israelis and injured 12 others. Palestinian-Israeli violence has killed some 30 people in Gaza and Israel following Thursday attacks by Palestinian militants at the Israeli-Egyptian border. The attacks, which killed eight Israelis and five Egyptian security officers, and wounded more than 20 people, prompted retaliatory airstrikes by Israel against militants in Gaza, which killed 15 people and injured more than 60. In response to the strikes, Palestinian militants have fired nearly 100 rockets at Israel over the past four days. The Radical Palestinian movement Hamas announced on a Gaza radio station on Saturday that it was cancelling its four-month-old truce with Israel. Earlier on Saturday, Hamas also claimed responsibility for the Saturday night attacks on Israel, but later retracted its claim of involvement.
