HE Prime Minister of the Republic of Finland Juha Sipila has hailed the remarkable developments achieved by the State of Qatar over the past 20 years, while pointing to bilateral relations, cooperation and excellent channels of dialogue between country with Qatar.
In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the 17th Doha Forum, Sipila said there are possibilities for further strengthening relations between Qatar and Finland, especially in the area of trade, which is currently at a very low level.
The Prime Minister of Finland said direct flights between Doha and Helsinki have greatly helped in developing the relations between the two countries since they were launched in October 2016, hoping that they will further cement cooperation between companies from both countries.
He said that there are opportunities to boost relations between Qatar and Finland in other areas, such as clean technology, renewable energy, information and communication technology, education, and other fields.
As for the relations between Qatar and the European Union in which Finland is a member, the Finnish Prime Minister said that there is no problem hindering the development of relations between the two side, stressing that the European Union respects and appreciates Qatar's achievements and developments over the past 20 years.
