Kuwaiti Ambassador to Kenya Yaqoob Al-Sanad met here Tuesday with Foreign Minister Moses Wetangula discussing means of boosting the bilateral relations between the State of Kuwait and the African nation. A statement released by the Kuwaiti Embassy said that the Ambassador conveyed to the Kenyan official greetings from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, adding that both officials also touched on measures to bolster bilateral relations. The diplomat conveyed an invitation from the foreign minister to the Kenyan official to visit Kuwait, the statement said, adding that Wetangula pledged to respond to the invitation as soon as possible. On another issue, the statement indicated that Al-Sanad, also representative of Kuwait to the United Nations Programs for the Environment and Human Settlement (UNEP) and (UN-Habitat), would represent the State of Kuwait at a conference, to be held in Nairobi, on Friday, to discuss the recent drought and hunger waves that swept the Horn of Africa. The broad convention, to be held at the UN offices in the Kenyan capital, will be sponsored by the president of Kenya and attended by the heads of state of Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, South Sudan, Burundi, and the UN Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Lynn Pascoe. Al-Sanad has affirmed significance of Kuwait\'s participation in this crucial conference, noting that Kenya, nations of East Africa and the African Horn pin high hopes on further Kuwaiti support for the African nations that have been threatened with famine.
