The ministerial conference of Community of Democracies (CD), held in the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius, was launched on Friday with the participation of more than 80 countries, including the State of Kuwait. A number of key international figures are expected to deliver speeches during the conference such as US State Secretary Hilary Clinton and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Azubalis. Director-General of Kuwait Diplomatic Institute Abdulaziz Al-Sharikh will represent Kuwait at the event. Despite a noticeable lack of Arab participation at the conference, it is expected that the latest developments in the Middle East region will get the greatest attention and focus during the gathering. Community of Democracies, established in 2000 in Poland, focuses on strengthening and enhancing demoratic activities worldwide and gives a special attention to emerging democracies and civil society\'s involvement in governance.
