Jordan will receive US$1.3 billion in aid from the United States for 2017, the state Petra news agency reported today.
The aid will help the country in addressing economic challenges and financial pressures imposed by the ongoing crisis in neighbouring Syria, as well as supporting reforms and development, noted Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury d during a meeting with a US Congressional delegation.
According to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Untied States' assistance programme to Jordan is among the largest in the world, totaling approximately $5.4 billion from 2005 to 2015. The United States government, through USAID, has provided foreign assistance to Jordan for more than 60 years.
