Iraqi Parliament Deputy Speaker Arif Taifor called on Iran Thursday to stop its aggressions on the northeastern borders of Kurdistan region, including the bombardment of border towns. The bombardment caused extensive damage to civilians there, Taifor said in a statement issued by his office after meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Iraq Hasan Danaie Fir. Calling on Iran to stop the aggressions on the border areas, Taifor stressed the keenness of the Iraqi federal government and the government of Kurdistan region to establish trade ties with Iran. The Iraqi lawmaker asserted on the importance of taking concrete measures by the Iranian government to ensure the return of Al-Wand river water in Khanqen area, due to the deteriorating situation there as result of water shortages. For his part, the Iranian diplomat said that his government will look into the mentioned issues in the talks, calling for finding the best suitable solutions to the problems. The statement also noted that the two sides agreed on bolstering ties, particularly in the commercial and economic fields.
