President of Djibouti Ismail Omar Guelleh has won a fourth term in office in the first round of elections held on Friday, Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed announced on national TV.
The incumbent "took between 74 and 75 per cent of the votes in Djibouti city and Balbala" in Friday's polls, the Prime Minister said.
The two areas comprise around 60 percent of the country's population, prompting the premier to declare Guelleh's victory.
Three of the seven parties in the opposition coalition boycotted the election.
About 180,000 people were eligible to vote in the country of 23,200 square kilometers and nearly 900,000 residents.
