His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received on Saturday the US Senate and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, John McCain, at Al Shati Palace.
McCain is in a current visit to the UAE.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the US senator discussed relations and co-operation between the UAE and US and ways to enhance them in the best interest of the strong strategic ties between the two countries.
Sheikh Mohamed and McCain exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments as well as on the most important efforts, ideas and initiatives exerted to address a number of files, especially extremism and terrorism.
They also tackled the efforts being made by countries of the region in co-operation with the international community to drain sources of financing terrorism, undermine its supporters and pursue promoters of terrorist ideas and ideologies and its platforms that incite against stability, security and peace in the region.
Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council, Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Crown Prince's Court, attended the meeting.
The accompanying delegation of Senator John McCain was also present.
