Another person died on Saturday due to injuries apparently sustained during a violent protest a day earlier to oppose the Constitutional Court's decision to oust President Park Geun-hye, raising the death toll to three.
The 74-year-old person, identified only by the surname Lee, died at a Seoul hospital at around 6:45 am, police said.
The South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that the protester was rushed to hospital after having lost consciousness following a standoff with police during a rally in central Seoul at around 12:30 pm, Friday.
Police, in consultation with the bereaved family, plan to conduct an autopsy to find the exact cause of death.
During the Friday protest right after the historic ruling upholding the parliamentary impeachment of Park, two people suffered fatal injuries and died in a worrisome sign of escalating division over the ouster of the ill-fated leader.
