A delegation from the Federal National Council, FNC, led by Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the FNC, began its official visit to Ireland as part of a tour that includes the United Kingdom and Germany.
Given the great development in relations between those countries and the UAE, the aim is to discuss issues of mutual interest, promote parliamentary relations and co-ordinate and review several topics of mutual concern.
Dr. Al Qubaisi and the FNC delegation were received by Brandan Smith, Chair of the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Irish Parliament, Dr. Saeed Mohammed Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Ireland, and several embassy officials.
The visit is a part of the implementation of community initiatives from the FNC’s 2016-2021 strategic plan, which includes a comprehensive policy for foreign visits and parliamentary participation that aims to achieve the highest level of efficiency, based on complying with national trends and interests and clarifying opinions on various issues.
These issues include gaining international, regional and Arab support for the case of the three UAE islands, Abu Moussa, Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb, under Iranian occupation; combating all forms of terrorism, extremism and violence; highlighting the UAE’s commitment to support international and regional peace, security and stability; promoting sustainable development goals, while highlighting the nation’s commitment to respect and promote fundamental human rights, and eliminate all forms of discrimination and promote the values of tolerance and co-existence.
