Afghan and international forces killed 14 armed insurgents and arrested 43 over the past 24 hours following joint operations in different parts of the country, Afghanistan''s Ministry of Interior announced Wednesday. Afghan National Police with the assistance of the Afghan National Army, NDS and Coalition Forces launched 12 joint and independent operations in Nangarhar, Baghlan, Kandahar, Helmand, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Khost, Paktika and Paktia provinces. Four insurgents were wounded in these operations, the ministry said. Two mine planters were killed yesterday while planting two anti-vehicle mines in Chahar Boost village, Dilaram district of Farah province. Afghan National Police discovered and seized 17 rounds of anti-vehicle mines, 36kilograms opium and one pistol over the past 24 hours as a result of operations in surrounding areas of Kabul, Nangarhar, Kapisa, Baghlan, Kandahar, Khost and Farah provinces, the statement added.
