Passengers travelling to or coming from Pakistan or India this week were treated to festivities at Abu Dhabi International Airport, marking the Pakistan Independence Day on August 14, and the Indian Independence Day on August 15.

The celebrations included a flash mob that surprised passengers arriving from various destinations in both countries, as it suddenly appeared in the baggage claim halls, leaving the passengers in total amazement. Passengers also had the opportunity to take photos in front of the famous "Wagah Border", which is a tradition that reflects the close relations between the two communities.

Both Terminal 1 and 3 were carrying the flags and colours of both countries in a tribute to those nations. Abu Dhabi Duty Free and several of its concessionaires also joined in with many offers and discounts over the two days, including Sharaf DG, Pure Gold, and the airport' lounges operated by Plaza Premium. In addition, the VIP terminal chose 50 lucky passengers and gave them the opportunity to experiment the luxury travel experience they have on offer.

Acting chief executive officer, Abdul Majeed Al Khoori, said, "Abu Dhabi Airports is honoured to take part in the national celebrations of these two dear nations. India and Pakistan have been strong travel markets for Abu Dhabi International Airport, being one of the top regions from the capital's airport, and generating together on average 22% of its annual passengers."

The show was conceptualized and executed by Plan b Group, the performance unfolded as a part of Abu Dhabi International Airport's initiative to celebrate the 70th Independence Days of Pakistan and India.

The show begins with a heart-tugging short play, followed by a flash mob sequence performed to patriotic and popular music. Subsequently, the passengers are welcomed by a replica of the Wagah Border where they witness a home-grown version of 'the most spectacular border show' that takes place every year during the Pakistan and Indian Independence Days.

Harmeek Singh, Founder and Chairman, Plan b Group said, "We were delighted when approached by Abu Dhabi International Airport to conceptualize and deliver an event to celebrate the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan and India. The entire act has been designed to commemorate the milestone celebration of both countries independently.

"UAE is a country where Indians and Pakistanis co-exist as friends and family. When I had just arrived in the UAE, I received warm support from Pakistani friends and I am honored to have such camaraderie with them."
