Seven suspended officials of Biman Bangladesh Airlines were filed Thursday in a case over emergency landing of a flight of the national flag-carrier carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Budapest Water Summit on Nov. 27.
Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested the Biman officials in the capital Dhaka on Thursday.
Biman authorities Tuesday night filed the case against nine Biman officials, including the seven, for their negligence in duty that led to the emergency landing of the flight.
Monirul Islam, chief of Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit, at a press conference on Thursday in Dhaka, said they will seek remand for quizzing the arrested officials, who have already been suspended from their services, after producing them to a court Thursday.
Probes by three separate committees reportedly have found that the VVIP flight carrying Hasina made emergency landing after a loose nut caused leakage of engine oil, lowering the oil pressure of engine No. 1 of the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
The flight made the emergency landing at Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan on Nov. 23.
