A spokesman for the ruling party in Yemen said on Friday that President Ali Abdullah Saleh will remain in Saudi Arabia until doctors declare his safety, denying reports that the President may return to his country on Sunday to participate in the celebrations for the 33rd anniversary of his power. This has caused speculation about Saleh’s health and the possibility of his return to Yemen, after he travelled to Saudi Arabia last month to undergo medical treatment following an assassination attempt which caused him to sustain injuries and serious burns. Tariq al-Shami, a spokesman for the ruling party in Yemen said that the talk of Saleh returning on Sunday is not true, and that it is up to the doctors to determine the date of the President’s return to his homeland.
