The first meeting of the UAE-Tajikistan Consular Consultation Committee was held today at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, in the capital, Dushanbe.
The meeting was co-chaired by Ahmed Saeed Elham Al Dhaheri, Assistant Under-Secretary for Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Haqdod Mahmadsharif, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
Both sides discussed several joint consular topics and their plans to monitor and advance them, as well as the means of strengthening the future joint consular co-operation between the UAE and Tajikistan.
In his speech during the meeting, Al Dhaheri stressed that the bilateral relations between the UAE and Tajikistan have witnessed considerable progress, which directly contributed to establishing and advancing these relations. He praised the current UAE-Tajikistani relations while highlighting the UAE’s desire and interest to strengthen and develop these relations, reflecting the ambitions and goals of the leaders of both countries.
He also pointed out that the UAE and Tajikistan are connected by strong bilateral ties, which are based on creating and developing understanding, mutual respect and common interests.
He noted that this type of relationship has been reflected positively through the signing many agreements and Memorandums of Understanding, MoU, with the aim of facilitating consular services for the citizens of both friendly countries. This meeting, therefore, answers the desire of both countries to strengthen their consular co-operation, he added.
Al Dhaheri expressed the hope that the meeting will lead to greater accomplishments in the consular field, in line with the ambitions and aspirations of the leadership of both countries to further improve their relations.
Mahmadsharif praised the ongoing development of bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the area of consular co-operation.
He also praised the UAE’s leading experience in this area while affirming that his country aspires to enhance its co-operation and exchange relevant knowledge with the UAE, which will benefit the citizens of both countries and consolidate their relations.
The meeting also saw the participation of representatives from various departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Interior in the UAE, alongside specialised authorities in Tajikistan.
