New details on the Turkish proposal for the formation of Palestine's leadership have been revealed in a statement to ArabsToday. Informed sources are saying the proposal forbids Hamas to interfere in the creation of the new National Unity Government, which is due to take place in September. The anonymous sources added that Cairo and Palestinian president Abbas have already agreed to the terms of the proposal, which would see Fatah as the sole leader in government. The sources revealed that during his recent visit to Turkey, Abbas clashed with Hamas’s leader’s, Khaled Meshal, and rejected the terms Meshal laid out. Earlier this month, Palestinian sources revealed that the September deadline for the government's formation would not be met. Fatah’s Delegation Head, Azzam Alahmad, rebuffed these rumors, stating that the reconciliation process with Hamas was "going smoothly". Alahmad denounced the reports as a political attack on The Palestinian Liberation Organization, which is working to win recognition for an Independent Palestinian state.
