Syrians protest outside Arab League HQ

More than 700 Syrian citizens gathered outside the Arab League headquarters in Cairo today, demanding a quick intervention to resolve the Syrian crisis, and to stop the genocide committed by the Assad regime. A number of demonstrators told ArabsToday: "We call on the Amir of Qatar Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani to intervene rapidly to stop the massacres being committed in Syria, as he may be able to influence Bashar Al-Asad to stop the genocide in Syria, which has killed more than 1,800 Syrians." Their demand comes despite Qatar's withdrawal of its ambassador from Damascus, after the attacks against the embassy compound by President Asad's supporters. The Syrian demonstration of the youth revolution of the 25th January, raised Egyptian and Syrian flags side by side, and a number of Syrians said: "We blame Syria’s collapse on the Arab League, and the Secretary of the Arab League, Nabil Al-Arabi, after his meeting with Bashar." The demonstrators said that Al-Arabi's visit to Syria was to support Bashar Al-Assad, and not to resolve the crisis there, and that the Arab League had still not done anything about the crisis in Syria.
