The number of people killed by the Syrian army forces in Syria on Sunday has risen to 66, including three children and five army defectors, the Local Coordination Committees said. They added that government forces killed 66 people in Hama, Homs and suburbs of Damascus. Armed clashes and bombardments are ongoing, they noted, while the government forces, backed by tanks and aircraft, stormed a number cities to crack down on anti-government protests. In Damascus, security forces raised level of alert after the revolution youth set fire in a number of roads leading to the White Bridge Square. The committees said the Syrian government forces were still suppressing protesters in different parts of the country.
